Perform basic and
applied research in liquid rocket propulsion concepts at the Air
Force Research Laboratory, Propulsion Directorate, Edwards AFB,
CA. The position may involve experimental investigation of
liquid rocket combustion instability, liquid propellant spray
characteristics, and combustion and decomposition
characteristics of hydrocarbon propellants. We are also
interested in methods for testing and investigating new
injectors, chambers, or propellants for rocket propulsion
systems. Background in one or more of the following areas
required: liquid propellants; spray combustion; turbulent
reacting gas dynamics; and/or combustion and flow diagnostics.
Collaboration with internal and external research groups,
participation in technical symposia, and publication of research
results are encouraged. Familiarity with rocket propulsion is a
plus. US citizenship required. |

Experience in polymer
and nanocomposite synthesis preferred. Research focused on the
development of new hybrid thermoplastic & thermosetting polymers
through the incorporation of nanoparticles. Development of
material technologies to improve solid rocket motor and liquid
rocket engine systems, as well as a variety of other demanding
Air Force and DoD applications. Must have the ability to plan,
organize, and execute both fundamental and applied research
pertaining to the processing and characterization of polymer
systems and nanostructured materials. Research will include
synthesis and characterization of hybrid organic/inorganic
materials and polymers. The candidate should be familiar with,
and competent in the use of, common lab equipment used during
materials synthesis and characterization. Ability to design and
develop synthetic methods for the creation of new materials and
polymer systems. Prepare professional quality technical reports,
peer reviewed articles, and oral presentations to be presented
to various audiences. U.S. citizenship required. |
